FRIED FISH JUST LIKE LONG JOHN SILVER'S
Being from Corbin, KY, we always loved it when we got to go fishing with dad. One of the best parts was delivering that fresh-caught fish to mom, where she would gut and filet it. She varied in her coating selection, from corn-mill to battered. We loved the battered option because that meant we got to eat a ton of the batter that was leftover, mom always dripped the batter into the lard to create those glorious crumbs!
In the country, you wasted nothing, including the excess batter. The typical side dish for us was our Southern Macaroni and Cheese… which it still is today when we cook fish. Our kids are no different than we were, they love the crumbs, so we always make the extra batter and fry up those delightful golden crumbs.
We honestly love Long John Silver's, so creating this batter was a must! Our batter is the magic in this recipe. If you're a tater sauce person, then our Homemade Tartar Sauce is the ticket.
